The Red Lion - Old Marston

Welcomes don't come much warmer than at The Red Lion in Old Marston. A family-run establishment, this traditional country pub is cosily hospitable, and offers freshly cooked meals and a wide-ranging selection of drinks. Parents will be glad to know that kids are catered for too, with a children's menu and a safe play area. My partner and I visited with our young ones on a typically lively Saturday evening and weren't disappointed; we were greeted as old friends. We were seated straight away and our orders cordially taken. To start, we shared the hot and spicy chicken wings, which were meaty and zingy. To follow, I plumped for the homemade cod fishcakes - they were light, crispy and subtly flavoured. My partner, meanwhile, dug into the lamb shank and didn't leave a morsel.
