The Butchers Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

5 Wilberforce Street, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7AN

The Butchers Arms is a well-kept pub and all-around cheerful place to while away a few hours in good company. Step inside the comfortable, traditional dining room, which is complete with a log-burning stove, and you'll be greeted by a menu that may surprise you. Fish and chips are out - here, the kitchen team create beloved Italian dishes using tasty, fresh ingredients.
Meat-lovers will want to try the pizza topped with genuine Italian pancetta and salami or pulled pork, while vegetarians can enjoy the three mushroom option. Gluten-free pizzas can also be ordered.
On our visit we were drawn to the interesting selection of pasta dishes, and sampled the linguine carbonara - ribboned pasta with plenty of juicy mushrooms and a superb bacon sauce - and the wonderfully creamy linguine with smoked salmon and spinach. Both dishes came with rocket and grated Parmesan, and were priced to be very wallet-friendly. To finish, I picked the scrumptious woodland cheesecake with raspberries and currants, and my partner enjoyed the light, fluffy and delectable chocolate truffle cake.
Alongside the regular Fullers ales (London Pride, Seafarers and Oliver's Island) are frequently changing seasonal and guest ales, as well as a great range of draught and bottled lagers, ciders, soft drinks and wine.
All in all, our evening here was very pleasant indeed
