First built in 1820, The Grapes is one of Oxford’s most popular pubs. Having recently been taken on by West Berkshire Brewery, the pub has been given a makeover and traditional 19th-century architecture is now the backdrop for a cosy yet modernised interior. With a laid-back, friendly atmosphere and convenient central location, The Grapes is an ideal spot for tourists, students, families and four-legged friends alike.
The kitchen specialises in simple dishes perfectly executed using locally sourced produce. The menu has something to suit every palate. From the beer bites section, plump for popcorn shrimp with garlic mayonnaise, or Buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese sauce. If you’re feeling peckish, opt for one of the delicious tacos or go for a traditional English favourite such as fish and chips. Each meal can be matched perfectly with any of the beers so be sure to ask the team for advice.
Good beer is at the heart of The Grapes’ offering, and a broad range of beers from 13 keg taps and seven cask lines are available. On the drinks menu you’ll always find the latest cask and keg beers from West Berkshire Brewery as well as an ever-changing selection from guest breweries. Also on offer is a range of hand-picked wine, spirits and soft drinks. Be sure to check the website for regular monthly events such as the quiz and live music nights.
