For sophisticated dining in relaxed environs, Beresford's is highly recommended. This award-winning restaurant offers attentive, friendly service, plus a daily changing menu featuring fresh produce from the locale. I couldn't resist the sumptuous pan-fried pigeon breast, marinated in red wine, Port, garlic and thyme, and served with a soft-boiled quail egg. My companion plumped for the double-baked Scottish salmon soufflé with a beetroot cream. The 28-day-matured rib-eye steak was tender and served with crunchy triple-cooked chips, while the trio of pork confit belly, roasted loin and black pudding beignet with sweet apple sauce, creamed potato and braised Savoy cabbage was heart-warming. White chocolate mousse and dark chocolate brownie with pistachio biscotti, and passion fruit soufflé with coconut sorbet rounded off a delightful dining experience, although we couldn't resist sharing a cheeseboard too
