The Talbot

The Talbot brings a modern touch to the pretty Sussex village of Cuckfield while retaining all the character of a traditional country pub. The restaurant is housed in a converted barn attached to the main building, and the stylish renovation benefits from plenty of glass and natural light. The food is the star of the show, as fantastic flavours and superb presentation achieve fine-dining standards with ease. The pan-roasted lamb rump with sautéed wild mushroom, butternut squash purée and red wine jus was proclaimed by my companion to be the best main she had tasted for some time, and the contrasting sweet and salty flavours of the desserts formed the perfect close to a superb meal. The attention to detail and wonderful service from the whole team make for a relaxed dining experience that puts The Talbot among the top establishments in the area
