Having earned a reputation for serving authentic, beautifully presented Thai cuisine, the team at Niyom Thai is accustomed to catering for scores of loyal diners. All are warmly welcomed, and the enticing, varied menu quickly makes the prospect of a second visit a foregone conclusion. The restaurant’s smart, wellappointed premises are relaxed and inviting. Comfortable and contemporary, the restaurant’s simple decor and hand-painted Thai tableware contribute to a sense of refined calm and sophistication.
It’s worth taking the time to indulge in the full three-course treatment here, perhaps starting with kanon jeeb, a dish of steamed wonton pastry dumplings, generously filled with water chestnuts, minced pork and prawns, and garnished with garlic and sweet soy sauce. For mains, plump for a classic: Thai green curry prepared with your choice of beef, chicken, pork, prawns or seasonal Thai vegetables, cooked in coconut milk together with bamboo shoots, aubergine, fresh chilli and basil leaves. All of Niyom’s fare is complemented by side dishes such as sticky coconut rice, and plain noodles with spring onions and bamboo shoots. Finish proceedings with something from the selection of traditional Thai sweet treats. The homemade pandan pancakes stuffed with coconut have proven to be a particularly popular option.
Staff are happy to cater for all groups, big or small, and the restaurant also offers a takeaway service for those who’d prefer to tuck into Niyom Thai’s authentic fare at home.
