Entering the spacious and airy dining room at The Seahorse, we felt immediately relaxed. Like a breath of fresh air, the first thing you notice is the bright, coastal-themed interior boasting cool blues, evocative paintings, and ample space to unwind. Just a stone’s throw from Stokes Bay beach and Alver Valley Country Park, this is the perfect destination for a lovely pre- or post-meal wander on a summer’s evening.
To begin, we dived enthusiastically into our starters of creamy garlic mushrooms, and ciabatta with baba ganoush and hummus. The homemade dips were both rich in taste and packed flavour – we had soon waded through the lot. As you’d expect, The Seahorse serves an excellent selection of seafood dishes, alongside traditional pub classics. After much deliberation, I plumped for the surf and turf: wholetail scampi and chargrilled rump steak. Cooked rare, my steak was perfectly tender and complemented the deliciously crispy scampi. My dining partner’s beer battered fish was deliciously fresh and was served with a gorgeous portion of chips and homemade tartare sauce. For a final flourish, I was recommended the homemade cherry Bakewell tart with Chantilly cream, and I am truly glad I went for it. With regular quizzes and live music events throughout the year, you’ve every reason to stop by The Seahorse, where quality dining, friendly service, and a wonderfullocation await.
