A warm and friendly welcome awaits visitors to this vibrant village pub, whether you're stopping by for lunch, dinner or a drink or two.
In the newly refurbished restaurant area, which was lovely and relaxed, my dining companion tucked into creamy goat's cheese with sweet beetroot, peppery rocket and beetroot mayonnaise - the clever combination of flavours and great presentation made this a great opener. I sampled homemade tomato soup of the day infused with fresh basil - a very well executed classic. My main course of hunter's chicken promptly followed, and the plump, succulent fillet wrapped in bacon, coated in cheese and smothered in a tangy rich barbecue sauce was just superb. The accompanying chunky golden chips were fluffy on the inside - just the way I like them - and the crunchy coleslaw and salad were tasty extras. As for the 10oz rump steak, cooked medium, it was slightly pink on the inside and simply melted in the mouth. Last but not least, we sampled a golden syrup sponge with ginger ice cream and sweet waffle with toffee chocolate sauce - after sampling two beautiful courses, we couldn't help ourselves.
There's a great wine list to accompany the menu, too, in addition to a selection of real ales (including local and guest), draught lagers, ciders and stout. The friendly team can also cater for parties of all sizes in the restaurant, as well as weddings, anniversaries and other special events in the spacious function room. Whatever the occasion, we recommend that you give The Ferryman Inn a try
