Ye Olde George Inn
Gastropub

Ye Olde George Inn, perched in East Meon, is a delightful 15th-century ncoaching inn set in the heart of Hampshire’s beautiful countryside. Picture this: a beautiful historic building with babbling River Meon running nearby and plenty of walking routes along the South Downs and stunning countryside, and you’ll want to head straight to Ye Olde George.
Once inside, you’ll be greeted by comfortable accommodation, inglenook fireplaces and a very warm welcome. Owner Mark Eyre has ensured the atmospheric inn still retains many of its original features, including the open fires and wooden floors.
Thanks to its location, there’s a wealth of local suppliers right on the doorstep offering free-range and organic produce. Mark takes advantage of the local, seasonal fare and so the menu changes with the seasons to offer lighter, fresher dishes in the summer and hearty, warming food in the winter. Mark and his team pride themselves on making all of the dishes on the premises, except the handmade ice cream, which comes from a local farm. The team are happy to cater for all kinds of dietary requirements, and given enough notice, can adapt a few dishes to suit all tastes. What more could you ask for?
