Fork Handles Kitchen
Modern British
This bright, airy, modern British hideaway makes a decidedly favourable first impression. Since its opening in May 2014, Fork Handles Kitchen has accrued a dedicated following of foodies who return for its knowledgeably sourced food and drink, fantastic customer-oriented service, and relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. The carefully drafted weekly changing menu might offer caramelised fig and pan-fried halloumi salad with local honey dressing to start, followed by main courses of Rother Valley beef cheek cottage pie, beef fillet and Secretts carrot purée, or foraged wild garlic and Isle of Wight mushroom risotto with poached yolk. Satisfy your sweet-tooth with rhubarb semifreddo with pistachio cream and ginger, or opt for Fork Handles’ 30 Mile Cheeseboard, which comprises four or five local cheeses. An expertly chosen range of artisanal libations – such as gin, vodka and Sussex elderberry Port from local distillery Blackdown – completes a truly sensational bill of fare.
