Turner’s View Restaurant at The Crescent Turner hotel is arguably Whitstable’s best-kept secret. The restaurant consistently delights those in the know with unrivalled locally sourced British cuisine, beautifully presented afternoon teas and its ideal location.
The stylish, recently remodelled boutique hotel boasts 16 unique guest bedrooms and beautiful views of the Thames Estuary and Kent coast. Less than two hours from central London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and an idyllic place for weddings and special get-togethers. Base yourself here for a luxurious long weekend and enjoy all Whitstable has to offer – explore the beach and the quaint harbour dating back to the 1800s, immerse yourself in the local arts culture and maritime history, embark on a countryside walk, or explore nearby towns. July sees the return of the annual oyster festival.
Located near a handful of fantastic independent shops and fishmongers, butchers and delicatessens, head chef Mark reaps the benefits of the restaurant’s location and uses fantastic local produce to craft the concise menu.
The subtle colour palette of the stylish interiors paired with polite yet unobtrusive staff makes for a peaceful atmosphere. Magnificent views of the Thames Estuary are a welcome sight as you relax and enjoy your meal, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner you’re tucking into. Enjoy these views outside on the terrace if the weather allows. Breakfast includes cooked and Continental classics to please all, and the fixed-price lunch menu offers two courses for £12.95, or three for £18.95.
Afternoon tea is beautifully presented and perfectly proportioned to satisfy large appetites. Many components are made from scratch – the jam is made using foraged berries, and cakes and scones are lovingly baked in-house.
You might start with seared king scallops wrapped in Parma ham with pea and mint purée, or the home-cured salmon with pickled vegetables and crème fraîche. Follow this with the popular fillet of beef or the vegetarian pumpkin ravioli and top it all off with a warming fruit crumble or rich Black Forest torte. A children’s menu means the restaurant is a great place to bring the whole family.
