The Heron

The Heron pub is traditional through and through. Cosy, with low lighting, and spacious thanks to the layout, I felt at home and relaxed upon entering. I started with a prawn and egg salad, while my partner enjoyed gloriously nutty hot chicken satay. Next up for me was salmon fillet with a fragrant herby sauce and chunky chips. My partner ploughed into a juicy steak with mushrooms, peas, tomatoes and chips, with sides of cauliflower cheese, carrots and peas. Needless
to say, helpings were hearty and we were two very satisfied diners. We found just enough room for trifle with generous layers of cream and a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream which was rich and decadent. Menus at The Heron change weekly and meat is sourced from the local butcher, meaning regulars are kept on their toes and excellent quality is a given.
