The Lion Inn is a pub immersed in history; the building itself dates back as far as 1407 and the ground it stands on gets a mention in the Domesday Book. With Pagham Harbour and beach only a few minutes walk away, The Lion Inn was once a popular smugglers' haunt and remains a favourite among locals and travellers alike. The warm and welcoming atmosphere has persevered through the years, and oak beams and open fireplaces in both bar and restaurant deliver a wonderful sense of jovial bygone times.
Bringing The Lion Inn firmly into the present is the comprehensive and mouth-watering menu, with a dedicated team behind it who will cook your chosen dish to order having freshly prepared it in house. In keeping with the feeling of locality here, all produce is sourced from nearby suppliers, so you can be assured that everything on your plate is of the highest quality.
The restaurant offers both meat and fish specialities along with an à la carte menu and also a bar snack menu for those looking for a lighter bite to eat. To complement the food there is an excellent selection of fine wines, as well as a choice of traditional real ales, keg beers and chilled lagers, which you'll be wanting to smuggle back home. In summer you can relax on the south-facing patio, perfect for soaking up the sunshine all day long. As new entrants in The Good Pub Guide 2008, it's clear that this inn is a roaring success.
