Bistro Neri is a family business run by the Neri brothers, who offer many an Italian-food lover the warmest of welcomes. Even though the Bistro was only established in October 2007, it has already gained an excellent reputation for serving quality food. The restaurant is informal and cosy and the staff are friendly and professional.
Bistro Neri offers a choice of contemporary, traditional and regional Italian cuisine with delicious hints of other Mediterranean influences. At Neri you'll find real regional dishes - particularly from the Roma area from which the family hails - so don't be surprised to find coda alla vaccinara (ox tail), trippa (tripe) alla romana, abbacchio (lamb) alla scottadito, or grigliata di pesce (mix grilled fish), as well as old favourites such as carbonara and amatriciana sauces at their very best.
A regular à la carte menu and a daily specials board present diners with mouth-watering choices. There are lunchtime and early evening meal deals too, offering you a light bite to eat, and hot dishes available to take away. Children are more than welcome, with their own menu to choose from, and you can rest assured that everything on everyone's plate is of the highest quality. Bistro Neri utilises meat from local farmers and the freshest of fish to create dishes such as spicy king prawns to start, and fantastic pizza campagnola (goat's cheese and wild mushroom) to follow. A select wine list provides perfect accompaniments to your food, with quality house red and white available by the glass, and a wider choice of Italian flavours by the bottle.
Situated in the heart of the prestigious area of Gosforth, only a two-minute walk from South Gosforth metro, Bistro Neri provides a lovely setting in which to enjoy some excellent Italian cuisine.
