The Blue Bell

This local hostelry nestling in the Ouseburn Valley will only ever send you on your way replete and having had a jolly good time. There's an excellent choice of food and drink, quiz nights and sports screenings, so it's a genuine community resource - and there's ample parking for those not fortunate enough to live nearby. The relaxed, friendly greeting at the bar, the warm autumnal tones of the decor and varied seating all made us feel immediately at home. As those around us enjoyed homemade gourmet burgers with chunky chips, while watching the match, we opted for traditional, hearty meals. They arrived steaming with wonderful aromas. My delicate, pink, plentiful lamb chops were complemented by a rich gravy and a good side of vegetables. The spices in the homemade chicken curry with rice timbale were beautifully balanced. We sadly left no room for choices from the extensive pudding menu. Next time, next time
