The ancient village of Barrasford is a beautiful location, with a history that can be traced as far back as the Bronze Age. This is where you will discover Barrasford Arms, a traditional pub and restaurant with a history all of its own. Originally opened in the 1870s, this fantastic getaway stays true to its roots, with village vegetable competitions and traditional garden games, such as quoits, still enjoyed here.

The cuisine is similarly traditional. Chef Tony Binks - mentored by Albert Roux - has created a superb menu showcasing the best local produce, combining quality game, meats, cheese and fish from the surrounding area. A subtle, stylish French influence combines with a refreshing 'no frills' attitude to dining: a winning combination.

Begin with the fluffy twice-baked cheese soufflé, followed by their signature dish: braised beef rump in rich Newcastle Brown Ale. On Sundays, you can indulge in two courses for £14 - the traditionally reared roast pork from nearby Hadrian's Wall, for example, is served with generous helpings of fresh vegetables. Ideally located for walkers and cyclists, Barrasford Arms is all about traditional food. If you just can't tear yourself away, why not stay the night in one of the equally wonderful rooms.
