Conveniently located in Westminster, The Red Lion attracts a large and varied stream of visitors. Spread across three floors, this charming venue is brimming with historic grandeur, with a dining room reminiscent of a Victorian gin palace. The main menu features a number of tempting options, like chicken supreme with mashed potato and mushroom and parsley sauce, or the tea- and hop-smoked haddock with a side of bubble and squeak and a poached egg. The real draw of The Red Lion’s kitchen is the handmade pies: flaky shortcrust pastry, a range of delicious fillings, creamy mashed potato and rich gravy. We’d recommend pairing your pie of choice with a pint of the excellent Fuller’s ale for which The Red Lion is renowned – perhaps choose ESB or London Pride. If beer isn’t your tipple of choice though, the extensive wine list and excellent range of whiskies on offer are defi nitely worth exploring.
