Harking back to 1988, Brindisa takes its name from the Spanish term brindis, meaning ‘to raise your glass in celebration’. Indeed, you’ll find yourself raising a glass to Brindisa’s excellent hospitality and authentic Spanish food. The first site threw open its doors back in 2004, and another four bustling tapas bars and Spanish-style family restaurants have sprung up across the city since. The most recent opening is Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch, which sports a Barcelona-style curved bar offset by terracotta tiles. Boasting a warm, vibrant atmosphere to match, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped right into a little Spanish bodega.

Tapas Brindisa Shoreditch has a well-earned following thanks to its tantalising food and relaxed service. Inspired by travels from Cádiz to north Catalonia, the interchangeable menus are rooted in Spanish tradition and boast touches of originality that make them stand out from the crowd. Then there’s the quality of the ingredients they source and import; a proud list is available to view on the website. Across the group, classic plates include patas bravas, croquetas de jamon, and huevos rotos. Each entirely unique restaurant celebrates it’s own regional and seasonal specialties, which may include paella marinera: a mix of Bomba rice, prawns, cuttlefish and mussels, or perhaps scallops with celeriac mash and salsa verde. The chocolate paradise dessert is heavenly, comprising chocolate mousse and cigarillo, with a brownie and chocolate ice cream. Of course, tapas can’t be complete without a smooth glass (or bottle) of Spanish wine. New to the agenda is a range of Spanish craft beer, which is proving a real hit with newcomers and regulars. Alternatively, choose from the cocktail list.
