The Table Café
Modern British
Buzzy and vibrant, Southwark’s Table Café serves up high-quality, sustainably sourced brunch fare in relaxed surroundings. Dubbed simple food with flair, the award-winning menu offers a wide range of enticing dishes from an organic fry-up and traditional fish and chips to decadent waffle and pancake stacks.
We kicked off our meal with a refreshing London beer – the crisp, hoppy Nico lager from Orbit brewery in Walworth. I was in the mood for something vegan, so opted for the V Burger – a hearty and delicious sweet potato, Portobello mushroom and chickpea patty topped with crushed avocado and served with beetroot relish, lettuce, tomato and triple-cooked chips. My dining partner enjoyed the inventively presented Table Caesar salad, for which chargrilled chicken, anchovies and aged Parmigiano-Reggiano were arranged atop a half romaine lettuce, and our platter was complete with a side serving of sweet potato wheels.
The team at The Table Café were friendly and charismatic, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was jovial, with working chefs singing along to the radio as they cooked. A laid-back brunch haven, The Table Café boasts something for everyone.
