Just off bustling Holloway Road, The Landseer is friendly and unpretentious, attracting gourmets and locals alike. The unassuming frontage disguises the high ceilings and decorative glasswork inside, where a theatrical curtain separates the restaurant and bar. Offering brunch, lunch, evening and tapas menus - all with eclectic influences - this venue is ideal for any time of day.
Begin with a relaxing drink in the flowering garden before choosing from the diverse range of starters, which range from zingy chilli-and-lime octopus to delicate caramelised shallot tarte tatin. Follow these generous dishes with well-executed mains that are all inventively designed and prepared to a high standard. Try the Seville-orange-glazed duck served with a delightful coriander and apricot couscous, or a more classic dish like premium Scottish rib-eye steak, chargrilled to perfection and served with hand-cut chips and Béarnaise. The dessert menu boasts wonderfully light and creamy banoffee pie drizzled with rich toffee sauce, and a soft chocolate fondant balanced with vanilla ice - to name but a couple of the indulgent options available.
There is no doubt that after sampling a meal here, you will be returning. And with group bookings available and a DJ performing on Saturday nights, there is every reason to make The Landseer a regular haunt.
