If you're looking for something special, Muga is the place to be. A short stroll from Leicester Square, this restaurant simply serves delicious food in a sleek, urban environment worthy of its postcode. The interior is stylish and modern, with a sleek and well-stocked bar, Edison lamps hanging from the ceiling, and stool seating throughout.
After receiving a cordial reception, take a seat and the friendly and attentive staff will present you with the menu. Why not begin with some nibbles - the edamame are salty and moreish, while the yaki-gyoza are pan fried to perfection. Ramen is Muga's speciality, and the concise menu comprises numerous ways to personalise this dish. First, select from five different types of ramen, each with different base flavours. The miso-based option contains minced pork, beansprouts and seaweed, and the Tonkotsu features salty pork bone broth. Vegetarians will be more than satisfied by the Yasai, which includes stir-fried vegetables, seasoned bamboo shoots and spring onion. After selecting your broth and either thick or thin homemade noodles (created from scratch using a noodle making machine), diners are invited to add something extra special to their ramen, including spicy chicken and vegetables, seafood, pickles and ginger. If you're having difficulty deciding, the menu features a number of chef's recommendations. Alternatively, plump for one of the non-ramen meals, such as chicken teriyaki or tempura.
Desserts are equally delectable. Indulge in a scoop or two of green tea or sesame ice cream, or select the mochi ice cream - soft rice cake filled with vanilla ice cream and well-matched with soybean powder and sugary syrup. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, tuck into a pile of warm pancakes, filled with a sweet red bean paste and topped with a scoop of the ice cream of your choice.
All in all, Muga is an excellent value, minimalist venue, and the ideal spot
to escape from the hustle and bustle of central London and sample tasty
