Searcys Bar and Restaurant finds its home at the Barbican Centre, Europe's largest multi-arts and conference venue and the home of the London Symphony Orchestra. There's a real feeling of airiness and contemporary class here, and superb views over the cityscape.
The stylish bar and adjoining restaurant are located on the second floor of the centre. Handily, they are close to the yellow lines that are so carefully marked on the walkways around the centre, leading you to three tube stations and the heart of the financial district. The restaurant offers great cooking overseen by chef Darren Archer. Modern British dishes with a Continental, grill-style influence feature on a thoughtful menu with something to please everyone. Highlights include the fantastic steaks and superbly cooked fish, and the cheeseboard is also outstanding. A pre-concert theatre menu is available for those who are off to see a show.
The service at Searcys is warm and personal, with knowledgeable recommendations from the menu and wine list readily given. The latter is excellently composed, with some outstanding selections by the glass. The wine list is also available in the bar alongside an amazing selection of cocktails, and, if you don't fancy a full dining experience, you can find lighter bites and excellent coffee on offer here too
