Nestled down one of Chelsea's leafy side streets, The Five Fields has quickly garnered a reputation as a must-visit foodie paradise, where super-stylish creative food manages to be both indulgent and playful. Boasting their own kitchen garden in the idylls of the Sussex countryside, chef patron Taylor Bonnyman makes clever use of this bounty of seasonal fruit, vegetables, rare herbs and flowers to complement delightfully luxurious ingredients of exceptional provenance, and succeeds in delivering dishes that are as pleasing on the eye as they are on the palate. A three-part starter called Rock Pool is a real delight, with sea urchin, English caviar, smoked eel, langoustine and oyster, while a tempting main course of Yorkshire lamb is perfectly paired with Dorset snails, Jersey Royals and ewe's cheese. This establishment also boasts a serious yet accessible wine list, which is procured and managed with charm and efficiency.
As one might expect from a Chelsea townhouse, the main dining room is elegant and understated, with pale lime-washed floors and whimsical fittings, while the first-floor private dining room is beautiful and intimate - it's like being welcomed into your best friend's home. Flawless service, which is as welcoming and warm as much as it is professional and knowledgeable, makes everyone feel cherished. This is fine dining at its best - without a hint of stuffiness
