The Bowler Pub & Kitchen

32 Bowling Green Lane, Clerkenwell, EC1R 0BJ
Much like the hat it's named after, the proudly British Bowler Pub & Kitchen exudes classic style. A stone's throw from a whole host of city hotspots including Covent Garden, St Paul's Cathedral and King's Cross, this cosy pub caters for everyone from foodies to sports fans and those simply wanting a quiet chinwag over a casual drink. There's always a friendly face to be found here, whether it's hospitable proprietor Lee Curtis or the well-loved pub dog, Bentley.
Furnished with three flatscreen TVs, The Bowler is the perfect venue to catch top sporting fixtures. Mellow lighting from floor lamps, soft music and handsome wood and leather furnishings combine to create a congenial atmosphere. At the bar, you will marvel at the wide variety of real ales and wines on offer.
Food-wise, the pub maintains a strong ethos: every ingredient is seasonal and locally sourced. As a result, time-honoured pub classics are elevated to near works of art. For starters, my homemade Scotch egg was moreish, while my partner's mushroom soup was deliciously earthy. We followed up with a succulent cheeseburger with thick-cut triple-cooked chips, and a special of sesame-coated swordfish with curried lentils and butternut squash, both of which were outstanding. The Bowler really is a restaurant to take your hat off to
