Named after the River Corrib that flows through Galway City and the Claddagh Village, The Corrib Rest has stayed true to its Irish roots - firmly evident in both the design and atmosphere. As you step through the door you are greeted by a warm wooden interior that's charmingly decorated, featuring artefacts ranging from boxing gloves to fishing nets - not forgetting a set of bookshelves for those who want some light reading matter with their pint.
But if you've come to eat, The Corrib has plenty to offer, including a 'from the griddle' section from which you can make the difficult choice between a grilled hamburger or a grilled lamb steak served with fresh potatoes and vegetables. Winning old timers such as the breaded mushrooms with garlic mayonnaise sit alongside Continental offerings such as a selection of paninis. Plenty of sandwiches, baguettes and jacket potatoes are available for lunch on the move, alongside the more filling dishes such as battered fish, chips and peas or Thai cod and prawn fishcakes. A delicious Irish stew is also on hand for cold winter evenings. If all that tasty food gets too much there's a chance to exercise as well; Irish dancing lessons are held every Monday and Tuesday night from 7pm and salsa takes place every Thursday from 7.30pm. Excellent food and a good time - what more could you want?
