At the heart of the historic village of Felsted lies The Swan Inn. This charming restaurant boasts the look of an authentic Tudor coaching inn, with attractive beams and high ceilings. Owners Sue and Gerry Goodridge have a wealth of experience in the industry. The duo have successfully combined a welcoming bar, spacious restaurant and trio of cosy rooms into one unmissable Felsted destination. The menu and specials board offer hearty portions of traditional dishes. From the list of starters we chose black pudding with poached egg and bacon lardons, and Somerset Brie in Japanese breadcrumbs. The full-bodied red wine I selected was well-matched to my main course of perfectly pink lamb rump served with mint jus and seasonal vegetables. The parsnip, red onion and Stilton salad was a lighter option, but was also deeply satisfying. Desserts didn’t disappoint either. We opted for hot sticky toffee pudding, and honey and Malteser cheesecake to round off our delicious feast.
