The Creek, which takes its name from the nearby stunning Flag Creek, is a cosy restaurant and bar set in a beautiful Grade II listed 17th-century building. The warm and inviting atmosphere allows diners to enjoy the simple but perfectly prepared cuisine in comfortable surrounds. Dishes benefit from the use of locally sourced produce, and the quality is evident in every bite.
Head chef Terence Howard brings a wealth of experience from landmarks such as the Savoy and other premier London hotels to the menu at The Creek, which features classic combinations and age-old British favourites. Under Terence’s guidance, The Creek was awarded Restaurant Of The Year in 2017 by Essex Life. Choosing from the à la carte menu, the light but indulgent grilled asparagus served with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, pistachio, raspberry vinaigrette and yoghurt is sure to get your tastebuds tingling. The main course options are equally packed with flavour; choose from the likes of beautifully presented calf’s liver with grain mustard and roast potatoes and duck breast with cauliflower cheese and crispy leeks. Alternatively, lemon couscous with tenderstem broccoli, Gorgonzola and olive tapenade is a delicious vegetarian option. For a fruity finish, go for the delectable cheesecake, which is flavoured with passion fruit, mango, pineapple and coconut and served with orange coulis. Alternatively, try The Creek’s own Creek Split: caramelised banana enhanced by salted caramel ice cream, walnuts and crème Chantilly.
On a Sunday, The Creek roast is cooked to order and options include beef sirloin and slow-roasted pork loin. For something a bit different, choose to carve your own roast and enjoy family-style dining away from the main restaurant. As host, you can carve your own meat and, just like at home, choose who gets the biggest portion. The host will be supplied with a branded Creek apron, chef’s hat, carving knife, fork, carving block and gloves, to serve the grand feast in style. Suitable for parties of six to 12, starters and mains are included, and a three-course meal ranges from £28.95 to £30.95 per person. You can even buy a gift card to treat someone special to a delicious meal, showcasing the best of the Essex food scene.
