Plume of Feathers

Stevenage Road, Little Wymondley, Nr. Hitchin, SG4 7HY
A warm welcome awaits you at this picturesque pub courtesy of Jay and Sandra and their dog Madge, a placid mastiff-cross.
This establishment takes pub grub to another level, so if you enjoy great food, a thirst-quenching pint or a glass of fine wine in front of a roaring fire then you need look no further than the Plume of Feathers. Children are well catered for and you'll find good, wholesome fare. The menu boasts locally sourced seasonal ingredients all freshly prepared and presented with flair.
The caramelised onion and goat's cheese tartlet was truly delightful and the large portion of whitebait took me back to the Lowestoft seafront. Following this, tender rump steak arrived with peppercorn sauce, delectable chips, onion rings and salad. The meat was tender, juicy, succulent and packed full of flavour. If you're a fish and chips fan, you've come to the right place, as the fish is beautifully fresh and the light batter melts in your mouth. The only difficulty we had was choosing one of their traditional English puddings - sticky toffee, treacle sponge or the imaginative ginger and almond sponge? We chose two to share and they didn't disappoint.
Offering everything that a good British pub should, it's easy to see why the Plume of Feathers is a winner on all counts.
