The Orange Tree

Set in the historic market town of Baldock and dating back to 1680, The Orange Tree is a traditional British pub with a cosy, atmospheric feel. Many of the original features have been exposed and restored to give a delightful olde-worlde feel, and there is a choice of five lovely rooms, each with a unique character of its own.

Licensee Rob Scahill is passionate about real ale, with up to 13 available on hand pump, including nine ever-changing options from independent breweries, as well as a range of local cider. This impressive selection won The Orange Tree a record-breaking double award from CAMRA in 2015: Hertfordshire Pub of the Year and Hertfordshire Cider Pub of the Year. The Orange Tree’s menu is sure to impress, featuring an abundance of local produce including meat from award-winning butcher, Chapmans of Baldock. Everything is homemade and it’s hard to resist the likes of the steak and Abbot Ale pie and creamy macaroni cheese. Chapmans’ scrumptious sausages can be enjoyed in various ways, including inside a baguette, with egg and chips, or in a huge Yorkshire pudding with proper gravy. For something a little lighter, fantastic vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available.

There’s also a large beer garden, children’s play area and pétanque piste. With a spacious club room seating over 70 guests, this is a perfect venue for private parties and meetings, too. The Orange Tree is a must for real ale-lovers and foodies alike.
