The Lancer Indian Cuisine

You could be forgiven for overlooking The Lancer Indian Cuisine when travelling through Baldock High Street. Passing it by, however, does mean missing out on a real treat - if you don't believe me, ask any one of its many regular customers. Behind the unassuming frontage is a clean, comfortable interior, with a tranquil atmosphere and enough space to afford privacy and easy conversation for each table of diners.

With 18 years worth of experience, this family-run restaurant certainly offers top-notch hospitality. We found the service to be pleasingly swift and professional; the pleasant team were available whenever we needed them. Catering for all, a wide assortment of meat and vegetarian starters is on offer, including soups, kebabs and, of course, chicken tikka. Tasty and fresh, the fl uffy onion bhajis and crispy samosas were a tantalising beginning to our meal.

The Lancer has a similarly great choice of main courses. As a particularly sweet-toothed diner, I was pleased to find an array of fruity curries, ranging from rich and mellow to fiery and intense. A recommendation for those who really appreciate a quality cut of meat has to be the lamb shank bhuna. Meanwhile, spice lovers will enjoy the heat of the Ali Special. Be it for an evening out or a lazy takeaway delivered to the door, we'll definitely be sampling more of The Lancer's great cuisine
