Chef Daniel Turner - nominated for The Craft Guild of Chefs Award 2011 - thoughtfully sources his produce from the local area. Bread is delivered from The Cottage Bakery and meat from the local butcher. These top-quality ingredients are then lovingly used in a diverse range of homemade dishes, from traditional lamb rump and poached pear with redcurrant jus, to exotic aromatic duck with stir-fried vegetables and rich oyster sauce. The menu varies depending on the time of year, with seasonal delights such as oak-smoked salmon and ham hock terrine available.
Their Sunday lunch is arguably the best around, with generous helpings of fresh vegetables and the meat cooked exactly to your liking. And with a children's menu, 'pub classics' menu section and stone-baked pizzas on offer too, everybody is catered for at this cheery, quintessentially English country venue.
