Rose & Crown
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Upper Green Road, Tewin, Welwyn, AL6 0LE

Perched on the edge of Tewin's village green, the Rose & Crown occupies the foreground of a picture-postcard village scene. This beautiful old red-brick building is about as inviting as they come; preened bushes line the exterior, hanging baskets are suspended from the entrance and, on the other side of the door, friendly staff members welcome all of their guests like locals.
The cosy bar area is a lovely spot to get comfortable and enjoy a tipple or two. If you were hoping for something a little more substantial though, the chefs are more than happy to oblige. The food menu is packed with beloved pub classics, such as homemade pie of the day, rib-eye steak, beef Wellington and home-beer-battered fish and chips. If you're thinking of making your meal a two-course affair, you can begin with the likes of breaded Camembert with caramelised onion chutney or smoked salmon and prawn cocktail. On Sundays, fans of the traditional roast are well and truly indulged here; pork belly with crackling, braised lamb shank, slow-cooked beef and homemade pie of the day are served with all the trimmings, each priced at under £10.
With food as hearty as that, it's a good job there are so many scenic trails nearby, so visitors can walk it all off. Bring the dog too - like I said, everyone's welcome
