Cinnabar Cafe

Following the success of the Stevenage branch, Cinnabar Café has now hit Hertford. When we heard, we simply had to go along to investigate. A stylish interior greets diners and dancers on arrival; the rich colour palette and Latino-style music help create a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. Quiet alcoves are great for dinners for two, while tall tables with bar stools lend themselves to sociable dining. There's also a mezzanine area, complete with DJ booth, for larger parties. The likes of tapas, steaks and sizzling burgers with tasty toppings grace the food menu.

My guest chose hummus with warm bread while I enjoyed succulent scallops with pancetta. This was followed by a juicy lamb burger in a crispy bun for me, and an aromatic braised hock in rich gravy with creamy mash and sautéed parsnip for her. The finale came in the form of tangy lemon sorbet and an Italian coffee. The drinks list features delicious cocktails, premium spirits and a selection of smooth red and chilled white wines, so we weren't short of choice when it came to choosing accompaniments. The bright young waiting team were whizzing around the restaurant all evening, keeping glasses full and diners happy.
