The Greyhound Inn Wigginton
Traditional

Chesham Road, Wigginton, Hertfordshire, HP23 6EH
The Greyhound Inn is an edge-of-village, family-run traditional public house serving real ales, extra-cold Guinness, Stella Artois and a wine list including sparkling wine or Champagne for celebrations. This beautiful Georgian building is located in the sleepy village of Wiggington, perched on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. Food is traditional and home-cooked with a daily changing choice from an à la carte and children's menu. Starters include paté with toast, a classic prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce or whole baked Camembert. Main offerings are again home-cooked and offer hand-carved ham with two fried eggs and chips, or baked cod with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, baby potatoes and French beans. Perhaps you'd prefer to select from a choice of chargrilled Aberdeen Angus steaks, or the pie of the day, which on our visit was steak and mushroom in ale. Desserts designed to tickle the tastebuds are pudding of the day and a choice of ice creams, amongst others. En-suite accommodation is available and so good that The Greyhound was recommended by The Telegraph for an overnight stay - it was also listed in their - Top 70 Pubs in Britain 2009'. This family-friendly pub offers a comfy corner composed of leather club chairs, a dining area with scrubbed pine and oak furniture and a games area with pool table. Outside is a beer garden and children's play zone, so pay a visit to The Greyhound Inn, where the dress code is informal and the welcome friendly.
