The Dog & Pheasant

On the night we visited this welcoming restaurant, the buzz of conversation interweaved with ambient music. The Dog and Pheasant's appeal is down to a combination of factors: a beer garden, children's play area, great team of staff and collection of varied dishes, available all day. The menu is extensive with good-quality food at reasonable prices - most main courses are under £10. To start, we had breaded torpedo prawns with sweet chilli dip. Next, my companion chose the slow-cooked lamb shank. Melt-in-the-mouth tender, it came with mashed potatoes, peas and mint gravy. I had the jumbo fish and chip supper, served on newspaper with mushy peas. For dessert, we shared a delectable sponge cake with velvety custard.
