A traditional pub that serves homemade, freshly prepared meals and light bites to regulars, hikers, bikers and passersby, Alma Arms is a no-nonsense establishment. The pub has been in owner Jane Speight’s family since 1970, and has become renowned for its famous homemade steak pie. They sell around 60 portions of this shortcrust pastry delight every day. Other popular menu classics inlcude beer-battered cod, lamb Madras curry and homemade quiches. A vegetarian and vegan menu is also available, and breakfast is served from 11am. On Sunday, the pub offers a choice of three roasts alongside the usual menu. There’s a daily specials board, and a two-course senior citizen deal for £10.25, which includes a choice of homemade desserts.
