The Curry Cottage

Tucked away at the top of Head Street, the much-acclaimed Curry Cottage has to be one of the best culinary destinations in Halstead. We began with an entrée of poppadoms with piquant lime pickle, sweet mango chutney, mint sauce and crisp onion salad. Starters to whet the appetite included meat bora, heady spiced balls of juicy lamb and a delicate fish kebab. A Bangladeshi dish of fresh fish cooked with rich tomatoes followed, while my companion opted for the house special - succulent chicken, minced lamb and juicy king prawns, cooked together and combined with an aromatic mix of the chef's special spices. Sides of saffron rice, naan and fresh mixed vegetable curry completed a delightful dining experience. Make sure you sample the Indian beers on offer and check out the great-value set meals.
