Situated on the crossroads of an old Roman road in Rayne is The Swan. Housed in a Grade II listed building and with exposed wooden beams, the setting is distinctly traditional.
For those after a tipple or two, there's a wide selection of real ales, beers and wines. If you're dining, arrive with an appetite. The menus comprise classic pub fare, home-cooked and at affordable prices. There's also a regularly changing selection of specials, so regular visitors will always have something new to sample. On our visit, I began with crispy tempura prawns paired with a sweet chilli dipping sauce, while my partner tucked into smoked mackerel. Both were delicious and hinted at the high calibre cuisine yet to come. For the main course I enjoyed a succulent sirloin steak, cooked to order and accompanied by a moreish peppercorn sauce. My partner meanwhile was uncharacteristically quiet, too busy devouring her hunter's chicken to talk. Portions were generous but the range of desserts sounded incredible, so we opted to share the caramel apple pie.
Families are welcome; there's plenty of room inside and an extensive beer garden for the warmer months. There's plenty to keep patrons entertained, whether you'd like to watch sports, play darts or pool, or simply relax and soak up the wonderfully warm atmosphere
