The Anchor Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

Located in the Dedham Vale area of Constable Country, midway between Ipswich and Colchester off the A12 trunk road, The Anchor Inn is ideally situated to offer hospitality and refreshment to those passing through. Whether you are a visiting tourist, a dedicated countryside hiker, or simply enjoy a wander around rural footpaths, the beautiful surrounding area cannot fail to impress. Dedham, home to a thriving arts and crafts community, is but a mile away while Flatford Mill, painted by John Constable, is only a couple of miles from The Anchor Inn. Food is available at lunchtime and in the evening and is generally home-cooked, with a large proportion sourced from local producers and growers. The team has recently been awarded five stars by the local council for excellent hygiene standards, so you can be sure of the care taken in the preparation of your meal. Sunday roasts are always well received, featuring meats from a local butcher. Homemade steak and Guinness pie is a favourite, as is the home-cooked ham with eggs and chips. To finish, the homemade fruit pies and crumbles served with custard or cream are always in demand. Vegetarian options are also available at all times. The Anchor Inn offers two cask ales under the Cask Marque Certificate of Excellence, which are supported by other keg lagers and beers, together with numerous wines and non-alcoholic fruit juices. Serving quality food in the bar and comfortable restaurant, The Anchor Inn is the epitome of the traditional village public house.
