The Plough Inn at Normanton is a large and rustic country pub where a friendly greeting is always assured. This charming pub boasts an extensive menu, so we endeavoured to try something slightly exotic. Our starters of lamb samosas and fishcakes with lime and coriander in sweet chilli sauce were both extremely satisfying. To follow, my partner’s main course of creamy Greek chicken proved a success. My choice of the ‘boozy bullock pie’, a take on a traditional shepherd’s pie with ale, was extremely moreish. A plentiful supply of vegetables and fries accompanied our main course. For dessert, I couldn’t resist an ice cream sundae filled with chunks of chocolate bars – a deliciously indulgent finale. My partner’s caramel apple pie with custard was equally lovely, and both of our desserts rounded off a thoroughly pleasant experience. Booking a table is highly recommended – this pub is deservedly very popular.
