Situated in a stunning building that has housed restaurants since 1972 and was once the first Boots pharmacy, this restaurant is proud of its gastronomic heritage. The decor is simple yet stylish, featuring polished wood, fresh flowers and chocolate leather banquette seating. 1877's first-floor private dining room is available for parties, functions and business conferences seven days a week. With a stand-alone screen, projector and WiFi facilities, plus its own integrated sound system, it has everything to make your function a success. The main dining area, which can be used separately or in conjunction with the media area, has its own bar and kitchen and offers flexible seating options for parties of up to 56 people.
The main restaurant, spaced over two levels, offers a fantastic à la carte menu, featuring delectable starters such as seasonal terrine with parsley and black pudding, pickled cabbage and carrot and juniper dressing. Move on to sample a typical main course of pavé of beef served pink and accompanied by horseradish mash, buttered kale, carrot purée and roast parsnip, then round off a delicious meal with a fabulous dessert like prune and armagnac soufflé with vanilla ice cream. This is superb food, impeccably presented and enjoyed in fabulous surroundings; a meal out doesn't come much better.
On Sundays enjoy a three-course family lunch, featuring a traditional roast for just £16.95 and, for the children, a mini roast for only £4.95.
