This privately owned, family-run, 17th-Century inn in the heart of the Peak District has been carefully restored and nurtured by Carole and Graham Walker, together with their daughter, Sarah. Endeavouring to serve the very best of traditional British food, with modern European influences here and there, they've earned themselves a loyal following.

Luncheon and evening menus include sandwiches, light snacks and full meals such as oven-roasted cod topped with Welsh rarebit on leek and potato mash, encircled by orange and whisky beurre blanc. Created daily using fresh produce sourced locally wherever possible, these dishes are complemented by a great selection of real ales and fine wines - best enjoyed in the beautiful garden to the rear of the inn, overlooked by the surrounding hills of Thornhill and Losehill.
