Set in the historic industrial town of Clay Cross, this characterful venue offers a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. The pub re-opened in 2013 after a thorough renovation, and under the guidance of new owners Craig and Mark even won the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Alongside scrubbed wooden tables and squashy Chesterfield armchairs you’ll find attractive touches like fresh flowers on all the tables. On sunny afternoons guests can also soak up the sun in the attractive patio area.
Decorated in bright, vibrant colours and furnished with the comfort of its guests as a top priority, this is a welcoming place in which to spend an evening. This lively venue hosts regular weekend entertainment and is an excellent place to enjoy a drink with friends. The well-stocked bar boasts over 20 kinds of gin, five types of Scrumpy Cider and four varieties of real ale.
The Three Horseshoes is also well known for offering a tasty breakfast. The generous full English brings together crisp bacon, sausages, eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans, tomato and toast, but guests are also welcome to create their own customised breakfast.
The main menu offers both variety and quality, with popular favourites placed alongside innovative delights. Pop by for lunch and tuck into a tasty salad or melting ciabatta, or take a table and enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal. Filled potato skins are sure to whet your appetite, or for something a little different perhaps try black pudding fritters. For mains you might plump for a traditional pub classic like steak and ale pie, sticky barbecue ribs or grilled surf and turf. On cold winter evenings, discover warming options like homemade beef stew served in a giant Yorkshire pudding. Or why not sample the meltingly tender slow-roasted lamb shank on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, in a flavoursome mint and rosemary jus? Though this is a popular spot with meat-lovers, there’s also plenty to tempt vegetarian tastebuds. Expect the likes of garlic and mushroom tagliatelle, gluten-free Mediterranean vegetable risotto, and even the likes of delicious goat’s cheese and red onion tart. No wonder The Three Horseshoes is so popular.
