The Attic Restaurant
Modern European
This hidden gem in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside is an idyllic escape from hectic everyday life. Tucked away in the rafters above Kilworth Springs Golf Club, The Attic is a very special restaurant that boasts stunning panoramas of the adjacent golf course and picturesque farmland, coupled with an imaginative and well-executed menu of modern European dishes.
My starter was a unique take on ham, egg, and chips, which was perfectly balanced in flavour with the different elements complementing each other beautifully. The ham terrine was exquisite with the Scotch quail’s egg and tomato purée. We continued with mains of braised blade of beef and pan-fried duck breast that were both satisfying and wholesome. For dessert, I opted for the delicious homemade carrot cake while my partner savoured the trio of chocolate. Both puddings were beautifully presented and demonstrated the chef’s talent for pairing flavours.
In the summer months, The Attic is transformed from a snug hideaway into a breezy sun-filled sanctuary, with its wide rooftop terrace ideal for romantic aperitifs or informal al fresco
dining. Pre-theatre dining is also available by request throughout the season; what better way to start an evening? If you’re looking for a rural rendezvous that combines great food with knowledgeable staff, a cosy, relaxed atmosphere and a truly unique location, The Attic should be at the top of your list.
