Located in the heart of Derbyshire’s Peak District, The Miners Standard can be found on the edge of Winster – an historic lead mining village that’s populated by charming stone cottages and boasts outstanding, picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Built around the year 1653, The Miners Standard was originally a farmhouse but was converted into a pub to serve the village’s workers.
Today, this well-loved inn is a popular haunt with locals and an ideal stop for ramblers and families walking around the area. Many even choose to camp overnight in the campsite, or to stay overnight in one of the comfortable rooms.
If you’re stopping by for a casual drink, you’ll find plenty to choose from at The Miners Standard’s well-stocked bar. As well as premium lager and local craft ale, there’s an impressive selection of refreshing cider, fine wine and various spirits. Feeling peckish? The menu comprises traditional pub grub, all of which is homemade on the premises, and portions are always generous. At lunchtime, why not order a bowl of fresh homemade soup or a chunky sub roll? Or perhaps you’ll treat yourself to a classic dish of fish and chips. Other options include gammon steak with pineapple and chips, flavoursome fish pie, hearty lasagne, tender steak pie and various vegetarian options.
