The Duke William

Since coming under new ownership in 2018, The Duke William has been treated to an extensive and thorough renovation and is now pleased to welcome back locals and visitors alike. Stop by with the family for a luxurious Sunday roast, enjoy a relaxed drink with friends or treat yourself and your partner to a delicious evening meal. Its location on the edge of the Peak District National Park also makes The Duke William a popular stop-off with ramblers. Inside, the recent renovation has resulted in a space that’s stylish and traditional, retaining the original character of the building. A crackling log fire, exposed beams and authentic fireplace create a sense of homeliness, while fantastic views of the open countryside can be enjoyed from the spacious beer garden, where dogs are also welcome.

The Duke William offers a hearty, satisfying menu to complement its cosy interior and great surroundings. Celebrating traditional British pub food, each dish is made fresh to order and crafted with locally sourced ingredients. Begin with gooey breaded Brie wegdes before tucking into a plate of delicious vegetable lasagne or classic battered cod with your choice of curly fries, chips, sweet potato fries or salad. Alternatively, start with a light appetiser of tomato and mascarpone tart before enjoying the highly popular Chinese chicken salad bowl or the succulent Cajun chicken breast with sizzling peppers and onions. There are plenty of grilled options too, such as succulent steaks and delicious gammon, and kids are offered their own menu of freshly made, perfectly proportioned dishes that include scampi and chips and chicken nuggets.

Every Wednesday, visitors to The Duke William are treated to pie night. This is a fantastic excuse to sample the classic steak and ale pie or the mouth-watering cottage pie – these pair perfectly with a pint of thirst-quenching cask ale or a glass of your favourite wine. Like any great country pub, The Duke William also serves up an excellent Sunday roast, which is served between noon and 7pm. Stop by, choose your favourite meat or vegetarian option, and enjoy all the accompanying trimmings and lashings of gravy.
