Wilmot Arms
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants

49 Derby Road, Borrowash, DE4 3JQ

With a focus on reasonably priced, wholesome food and a family-friendly atmosphere to boot, it comes as no surprise that this traditional free house is a popular choice with locals and visitors alike. Like each of his dedicated chefs, owner Carlo is a passionate and innovative individual, always striving to improve his fare.
The Wilmot also produces its own kebabs. Far from the usual late-night snack, the quality of these kebabs really shines through and is testament to the pub's dedication to locally sourced meat and home-cooked fare. These delicious morsels will soon be available in your own home, thanks to the soon-to-be-launched kebab and drinks delivery service. The menu is packed with 100-per-cent British meat, meaning my chicken tikka was wonderfully moist and utterly delicious, while my companion's Turkish chicken made for a succulent and tender offering. Carlo's famed handmade chips are the perfect accompaniment - twice-fried and wonderfully crunchy. The well-seasoned beef steak topped with rich and flaky shortcrust pastry that made up the beef and ale pie was likewise superb. As for the gammon, it was quite simply the best myself and my companion had sampled in a long while. Do try the Wilmot ribs too - one of their signature dishes - and embrace sticky fingers while devouring soft, slow-cooked pork bathed in a sweet, flavourful barbecue sauce. As for chocolate lovers, the Wilmot's soft and gooey chocolate brownie is sure to leave you weak at the knees.
