Hassop Station, Hassop Road, Nr. Bakewell, DE45 1NW

Once serving the Derby to Manchester line, Hassop Station is now all about leisure time. The railway line is long gone; in its place is the Monsal Trail - a lovely cycling and walking route from Bakewell to Buxton. There's nowhere better to rest tired feet and refuel than at Hassop Station's reincarnation as a charming café.
Fully licensed and utilising the bounty of superb ingredients available in the area, Hassop Station Café is all about 'food, family and fresh air'. For breakfast, go for the full Derbyshire, featuring Owen Taylor's award-winning country sausages, bacon, fried free-range egg, mushrooms, grilled tomato and toast, or keep things simple and classic with a toasted teacake with lashings of proper butter. At lunchtime, diners can choose from a selection of ever-changing specials, all made with locally bought and foraged ingredients, and a range of salads, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and homemade soups are also available. In the evenings, freshly made thin and crispy , stone-baked pizzas are served alongside a range of weekly specials. The kids will love their extensive menu and will feel right at home in the designated play area. Menu prices are very reasonable across the board and the quality is excellent. There's a large sun terrace for balmy days and walking groups and coach parties are more than welcome.
After all that delicious food, you might like to mooch around the adjoining book and gift shop, which features quality new titles and carefully selected gifts and homeware, and take home a memento of your sojourn in Hassop
