The Vine Café at Because I Like It

Some places are well-worth seeking out. The Vine Café at Because I Like It is such a place, a lovely café-bistro serving a range of light dining menus, and gorgeous coffee and cake. Owners Val and Nigel have brought something special to Bakewell, serving exquisite dishes that cater to vegetarian, vegan, and coeliac dietary requirements. We relished a tapas spread that included gluten-free fabada asturiana, white beans in a rich meat-infused stew, and pork meatballs in smoky tomato sauce. Both were outstanding. The vegan paella was filled with a beautiful array of colours, and tasted delicious. The desserts were exemplary, and generous in size. The vegan and gluten-free ginger cake boasted an incredible infusion of fl avours, while the pear and almond tart melted in the mouth. An unforgettable experience all round.
