The Anchor Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
0.5 miles
74 Loughborough Road, Hathern, LE12 5JB
Established 1884, this former coaching inn cuts an impressive figure in the village of Hathern. Behind the bar sits an enticing range of ales, premium and session lagers and a number of wines and spirits. To complement this fine beverage selection, the restaurant serves some top-notch food.
Tickle your tastebuds with starters such as pear and blue cheese salad, chilli-battered haddock fingers or calamari before moving onto some traditional pub favourites - all home-cooked and as locally sourced as possible. If you're particularly hungry the mixed grill is a must-order: rump steak, gammon, pork sausage and lamb cutlet, served with homemade onion rings, mushrooms, grilled tomato and chips. If the weather is bracing and you need a winter warmer get yourself a bar stew pot - homemade stew served with chunky bread from noon to 5pm, Monday through to Friday. All dishes on the lunchtime menu are priced at £5, so you can set yourself up for the rest of the day with hearty dishes such as toad in the hole, cottage pie and mushroom stroganoff, perhaps whilst checking your emails using the free Wi-Fi.
The Anchor is a place where something happens every day of the week, so you can be sure there is something for you. Monday is fish and chips night, when haddock and chips for two and a bottle of wine is only £20. Tuesday is the quiz, Wednesday is dedicated to steak and Thursday to curry. Come Friday, diners can try some of the best pies around.
